According to the openings, there are 10 offers that specifically eyes blockchain, including: "VP, Product Management - Blockchain/Crypto," "Director Product Development & Innovation - Blockchain Solutions Architect," "Director Product Management - Crypto Currency/ Wallets," "Senior Engineer- Blockchain," "Software Engineering Lead - Blockchain, Vice President, Network Tech Product Mgmt," "Sr. Analyst, Strategic Program Management: Core Network Platform," Director – Payments Platform and Networks," Consultant, Strategic Program Management: Core Network Platform" & "Lead Application Security Engineer."
70 percent of the openings will be in various cities in the United Stated while the rest will be in their blockchain team headquarter, Ireland.
According to the job descriptions, the new employees will “work with a cross-functional team that comprises of Franchise, Compliance, Regulation, Products, Labs, Regions and Technology to develop new products and solutions.”
Specifically, two of the job offers among other roles mentioned “wallet solutions” as part of the blockchain project which they are expected to lead.
Mastercard has been recruiting blockchain engineers, analysts and also working on developing its own blockchain for some years now. In 2017, the firm announced that it was opening its blockchain to merchants and banks to experiment with a new payment network. While in April 2018, the company hired 175 blockchain engineers in Ireland.
